Home Directory The Australian Institute for Loss and Grief

Our counsellng philosophy is not to 'deal with' our clients loss and grief personal lived experiences but to 'work with them' to lessen the grief pain as much as possible.

  • Have you got problems at home, work or school? Feeling overwhelmed?
  • Do you sometimes feel worried, afraid, panicky, angry, guilty or miserable for what seems to be no good reason?
  • Have you lost your confidence, self-esteem, faith in your own abilities or trust in others?
  • Are you under pressure from a relationship, separation or family breakdown?
  • Are you struggling to cope with drug or alcohol problems?
  • Do you sometimes want to smash things, or feel like hurting your self or others, or have suicidal thoughts?
  • Is a loved one dying or has died?

With 25 years experience in loss and grief, the Australian Institutes counselling services has helped many individuals and families across Adelaide and regional South Australia.

Rosemary has gained extensive experience and wisdom from many years of working with complex and not so complex loss and grief personal life experiences of her clients, both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal.

Her Seven Phases to Integrating Loss and Grief is based on how she transformed her inter-generational suppressed unresolved grief that compounded and complicated her contemporary losses and suppressed unresolved grief into becoming conscious of what to grieve for; where to grieve; when to grieve; how to grieve and why it's important and in so doing, it sustains her social and emotional well-being.

Her Seven Phases model is uniquely applied with respect and responsibly as each clients lived experience is unique theirs.  The model has proven successfully with the following groups:

  • Individuals, couples, families.
  • Children and young people with support and guidance from parents/carers/other professionals.
  • Long term unemployed.
  • Employed who are finding they are stuck in a rut or 'misplaced' motivation at work or home or having trouble separating the two (EAP).

Rosemary works with private clients as well as people referred to her by government and non-government agencies. (Government agencies and NGOs please note that funding must accompany clients being referred.)

Appointments are between 9am & 5pm, Monday to Friday or outside those times by arrangement;  counselling sessions can be up to 2 hours. Fees are based on an hourly rate. Venue for counselling can be flexible. Please ring for an appointment.
