About Cait Wotherspoon: Sydney Grief Counselling and Bereavement Counsellor

My passion lies in helping clients (both adult and children) with their losses, grief and bereavement. My rich and varied professional and family life has provided me with skills and experiences enabling me to become a better counsellor and psychotherapist. I bring a wealth of personal and professional experience to our work, so you get the best help possible.

Loss comes in many and varied forms. I’ve helped clients learn to cope with loss of relationships, pets, careers, miscarriage, parents, grandparents, employment, independence, dreams and much more.

In my grief counselling work I have helped many people with their bereavement, so that they could rediscover joy and happiness again.

Over the years I have added Certificates in Sand Play Therapy and Symbol Work and Art Therapy. I am forever looking for courses to build my repertoire as a counsellor and psychotherapist. I continually do workshops to help me help my clients. I am also involved with the charity Little Angel Memory Boxes (LAMB), where I work with families that are dealing with the death of a child, including miscarriage and stillbirth. My extensive training and experience means I work creatively with you to help you access your deepest strengths and resilience.

I have a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. I am currently at university completing a Graduate Diploma of Psychology but I am sure there is more out there for me to do to add to my expertise.

Individual & General Grief Counselling Services in Sydney

I work with a range of children, adolescents and adult individuals, offering grief counselling from my Penrith office, in the western suburbs of Sydney.

Grief and loss can affect many individuals in a variety of ways. It can be enormously helpful for you to work with a grief counsellor to receive support during this painful time. I can work with you to help you make sense of your loss and to begin to find a way forward in your life again.

You may be asking yourself:

  • How can I ever get through this pain?
  • Will I ever meet anyone again?
  • Will anyone ever like me enough to be friends?
  • How can anyone like me, when I look like this?
  • Will my life ever be normal again?
  • Am I depressed or is what I’m feeling okay?
  • Am I afraid of being hurt again by being in a relationship?

By having specialised Grief and Loss Counselling it is possible to:

  • Understand your feelings and emotions so you can start to feel positive again
  • Find a way to build the support system that you need and want so you feel less alone
  • Have the freedom to talk about your loss without fear of judgement
  • Learn to understand and navigate through your loss and start to build the life you want

I work with adults who feel:

  • Lost, helpless and hopeless in their life because of a loss
  • Alone and lonely after the loss of a loved one
  • Frustrated with friends and family who are not listening to them
  • Abnormal because those close to you are saying, “Get on with your life”
  • Isolated and disconnected with no-one to talk to about their loss

I work with children and adolescents who:

  • Feel like they are to blame for what has happened
  • Are feeling guilty because of the loss of a sibling or parent
  • Have shut down and can’t talk to anyone about their pain
  • Are feeling sad and lonely, like there is no place in the world that fits for them
  • Can’t concentrate at school and feel like their friends don’t understand

You can move beyond grief and loss and rediscover joy through counselling with Indigo Therapies

Helped Me Understand How I Grieve Differently
5.0
  • Rob 6 years ago

Without Cait’s help I would’t have my family. She helped me to understand how I grieve differently to everyone else in my family and that I was trying to be strong for them and that I didn’t have to be. I can now actually talk to my wife and let her know that I have feelings but they aren’t the same as hers, they are mine and I feel them my way.

Thanks Cait for my new life.

Huge Thank You

Dear Cait

We would like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you for all the wonderful work you have done with our family.

From the start you had an immediate impact on our children.
Under your guidance, the children have blossomed despite the loss of their sister.
Your ability to interact with them is one I have never seen before.
From a bereaved parents point of view you have an obvious gift for caring and understanding the profound and lifelong impacts the loss of a child/sibling can have. Providing easy to apply strategies for surviving many different aspects of the loss.

We do believe that what you are doing at “Indigo” is LIFE CHANGING!

Thank you for all your efforts with our family.

Easy to Talk to
5.0

Having a session with Cait is like having coffee with a friend. She is extremely easy to talk to. Rather than feeling clinical and somewhat pressured to talk, (as I have with previous counsellors) you find yourself WANTING to get things off your chest when you meet with her. She is extremely easy to talk to and puts you right at ease. Her insights are given not as clinical opinions, rather suggestions that are placed into your mind for you to consider and then you find yourself adapting them into your life. One of the best things that I have done is talk to Cait – to ensure that my life is being managed. I could not have gotten through the last 6 months without her guidance
