About Amanda Tilbury Psychotherapy and Counselling

I am an experienced psychotherapist with a lifelong commitment to helping people through the difficulties they face. Following a career as an NHS Nurse, I worked in a bereavement service supporting individuals through their experiences of loss, gained a Masters Degree in Integrative Psychotherapy and have worked in several counselling services as well as in private practice.

My Approach

I trained in Integrative Psychotherapy which means I draw on a number of different theories and concepts in my work. For you, this means you get access to the right approach for you at the right moment. My experience has reinforced the well know saying that "some things work for some people, some of the time" and so sessions are tailored to your specific needs and requirements.

I consider you as a whole, incorporating and working with body, mind, feelings and spiritual expression. I endeavour to encourage and support your capacity for realising your own potential and expression of your unique creative qualities.

Psychotherapy or Counselling

In practice Counselling and Psychotherapy overlap, both address a wide variety of personal issues and provide support through difficult life experiences.

Counselling tends to be shorter in duration focusing on a specific life problem while Psychotherapy can deal with more complex personal issues, exploring in greater depth and looking at life patterns and past experiences that might be adversely affecting life in the present.
